The overall research theme is the development of novel and sustainable solutions for off-grid production of safe drinking water, brine management operations, and controlled environment agriculture systems. This includes research in innovative photovoltaics; holographics; sensors and controls; unit operation technologies; and material, device, and systems resiliency.
The Indige-FEWSS research traineeship combines classwork, internships, teaching, and community interactions to enable trainees to tackle critical real world FEWS problems, with an understanding of the cultures and sovereignty of indigenous peoples.
The new FEWS minor integrates fundamentals to systems thinking to design FEWS systems. The FEWS minor is open to all UA students. MS trainees are required to take 2 of the 4 courses. PhD trainees are required to take the FEWS Minor.
